Book Description:
A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war. In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable--they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash's long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they're caught, they'll be executed--but their feelings are too strong. When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.
Elizabeth Richards author of Black City
1. Tell us a little about yourself?
Well, I think it's safe to say my passion in life is writing! I've always wanted to be an author, even as a little girl, and so it's a dream come true to be revealing the cover of BLACK CITY on your blog today! Before becoming an author, I was a journalist, and spent a few years reviewing videogames for a living (yes, people actually paid me to play games all day!), which was a lot of fun. I then briefly moved into travel writing, editing a short breaks and cruise magazine, but I fear that career was pretty much doomed from the start since I'm terrible at geography and suffer from awful sea sickness (not so good when you've got to spend 16 days at sea reviewing a ship). More recently I've worked as a website editor, and for about a year ran my own successful lifestyle magazine for teen girls, which was great fun! I basically got to interview my favourite bands and blagged loads of free swag, and had a blast. It's been a varied and enjoyable few years, that's for sure.
2. What inspired you to write YA Post-Apocalyptic Love Story?
I have to confess, BLACK CITY didn't start life as a post-apocalyptic tale. It was originally a paranormal romance set in contemporary Britain, but over a period of a year the story evolved, as I knew it wasn't right. Sometimes you have an idea in your head about how your book is going to be, and then your characters start whispering to you, telling you this isn't their story. And so I did some serious revisions, and - well, it became BLACK CITY! This was the story I was meant to tell, and I'm really thrilled to be sharing it with the world!

Review: Article 5 (Article 5 #1) by Kristen Simmons
Author: Kristen Simmons
Published: Jan 31st 2012 by Tor Teen
Book Description:
New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.
The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.
There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.
Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.
Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.
That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved.

Waiting on Wednesday #6
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.
The book we're waiting for this week is:
Taste by Kate Evangelista
Expected Publication: TBA by Crescent Moon Press
Book Description from Goodreads:
At Barinkoff Academy, there's only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans.
When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn’t realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.
You can read the Excerpt HERE
I wanted to read this because first of all, it's a YA book written by a fellow Filipina like myself, and the blurb sounds interesting. It kinda reminded me of the Vampire Knight manga/anime which I loved. I hope I won't be disappointed with it :D

Interview with Author: J.A Templeton
1. Tell
us a little about yourself? I always loved to read. As a kid I devoured
everything I could get my hands on. I
enjoyed escaping to other worlds/places, living in someone else’s skin…for at
least a little while. When I was
pregnant with my first child I found romance novels. I was addicted to the genre, and I started
writing my own stories. In the late 90’s
I found young adult novels again. I enjoyed the voices of those characters, and
I wrote a novel…that stayed in a file for years. I published twenty romance novels before
publishing my first YA romance. I love
the genre, and now I’m hooked. Aside
from writing and reading, I love history and research, traveling and riding
motorcycles with my hubby, who I’ve been with since I was fourteen and he was
eighteen.
2. Books
you currently have on your shelf? EXISTENCE by Abbi Glines, ANGELFALL by Susan
Ee, SWEAR by Nina Malkin, ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD by Kendare Blake, SLUMBER by
Samantha Young, UNEARTHLY by Cynthia Hand.
3. What
inspired you to write YA Paranormal Romance?
As I mentioned above, I’ve been intrigued by YA novels since the late
90’s. Over the years, and while writing
adult romance, I found the paranormal genre and loved writing it. Seemed like YA and paranormal romance was the
perfect combo for my writing.
4. Who
is your favorite character from your books? That’s such a tough question! I’d
have to say Riley, because I’m living her life as I’m writing from her
perspective. Though I do have a soft spot
for Shane…and Milo as well. See, I can’t pick favorites! Actually, I’ve come to love most of the
characters in The MacKinnon Curse series.
5. Favorite
scene/s? In The Deepest Cut there’s a
scene between Shane and Riley, where he confronts her about her cutting. It was a tough scene to write, but one that
was incredibly gratifying. Strangely, I
enjoyed writing most of the creepy scenes with Laria.
6. Who
would you cast for the leading roles, if your books were being made into a
movie? Britt Robinson or AnnaSophia Robb for Riley. Ian/Kade—does Henry Cavill, Kevin Zegers, or
Ben Barnes have any younger brothers? I wrote the book so many years ago, and
now all the actors that would have worked for Ian/Kade are pushing thirty. Who knows, maybe they could play
younger? I’m wondering—who do you think
would make a great Ian/Kade?
7. Can
you give us a sneak peak about what will happen in The Departed (MacKinnon
Curse #3)? I’m actually finding out as I
go along. Normally I’ll plot a book out,
but this one only has a skeleton outline and I’ve veering from that outline by
the day…so let’s just say the book is surprising me in a lot of ways. Riley is coming into her own and claiming her
abilities. And Laria—well, we’ll just
have to see what happens… How’s that for
being vague!

Q. I like unique name for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?
A: I really love it when I come across novels with characters with unique names! So far, the most unique name I remember is Roar from Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. When he was first introduced in the book, Perry shouted "Roar!" and I thought he's only mimicking an animal or something, but it turned out that he was actually calling someone! Now that took me by surprise! :D

Review: Beautifully Broken (Spellbound #1) by Sherry Soule
Author: Sherry Soule
Published: August 30th 2011 by Moonlight Publishing
Book Description:
They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn’t even begin to describe Whispering Pines. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch’s curse.
Sixteen-year-old Shiloh Ravenwolf is a heritage witch from the Broussard family, a family both destined and cursed. When she takes a summer job at Ravenhurst Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That’s where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan, and immediately becomes spellbound by his charms. Yet she is determined to discover the connection between them before it’s too late.
Finally, Shiloh's met someone who is supercute and totally into her, but Trent may be the next victim on the supernatural hit list. And Shiloh is the only person with the power to save him. Complicated much?
It sucks to have a destiny, especially since Shiloh would rather spend her summer being a normal girl who worries about clothes and boys, not the supernatural. But she’s never been
normal and the stranger things become the more her own magical senses awaken.
With cryptic messages from a pesky wraith, she will begin to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist, and decide how much she's willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.
Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance
