Blog Tour: Salvation by Anne Osterlund

                                                            Goodreads    Website

Book Description:
A smart, unexpected romance from an award-winning author.

Salvador Resendez--Salva to his friends--appears to have it all. His Mexican immigrant family has high expectations, and Salva intends to fulfill them. He's student body president, quarterback of the football team, and has a near-perfect GPA. Everyone loves him.

Especially Beth Courant, AKA the walking disaster area. Dreamy and shy, Beth is used to blending into the background. But she's also smart, and she has serious plans for her future.

Popular guy and bookish girl--the two have almost nothing in common. Until fate throws them together and the attraction is irresistible. Soon Beth is pushing Salva to set his sights higher than ever--because she knows he has more to offer, more than even he realizes.

Then tragedy strikes--and threatens to destroy everything that Salva has worked for. Will Beth's love be enough to save him?

Thoughtful and romantic, this is a beautifully written story about following your heart and fulfilling your potential.

  Interview:

Anne Osterlund

Give us three "interesting" facts about you (Be Creative)
.Salva and Beth—the main characters from Salvation—and I will give you each one. Salva once snuck a snake into church.Beth likes bubblegum ice cream.I belong to a fluffy orange kitty named Simba.

Tell us your latest news?
As I am writing this, I am
snowed in by five inches of lovely white powder. And yet, I am in the midst of a 40-stop blog tour.Oh, and Kirkus just reviewed Salvation as “touching” and “believable.” Quite a lovely way to be snowed-in!
What inspired you to write "Salvation"?I first met Salva and Beth in the middle of a collision. Papers, pencils, the contents of Beth’s backpack, and point of view everywhere! I didn’t realize there was an entire book coming, though, until Salva’s best friend, Pepe, shoved him into the prologue.
What character did you like to write about the most? Are you trying to start a war in my head? LOL! I tend to switch point of view between the two main characters in my novels. This means whenever it’s more fun to write in the other character’s pov, I can.
Your favorite scene to write?
Hmm. This changes throughout various drafts. A few scenes that I love in Salvation: Beth at the graveyard.Salva at the Laundromat. All the scenes in the Homecoming chapter. The barbecue scene (in which Salva’s older sister gets to butt into in his life). The melting ice cream scene. Beth in search of strawberry shortcake. And on and on and on.

Your favorite books published in 2012?Cinder by Marissa Meyer and Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. My favorite new read of the year, though, was Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder. For contemporary fiction, I really enjoyed Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally, Crazy Beautiful by Lauren Baratz-Logstead, and Just Listen by Sarah Dessen.

Review: The Peculiar by Stefan Bachman - Plus Giveaway

 Title: The Peculiar
Author: Stefan Bachmann
Published: September 18th 2012 by Greenwillow Books
Book Description:
Don't get yourself noticed and you won't get yourself hanged.

In the faery slums of Bath, Bartholomew Kettle and his sister Hettie live by these words. Bartholomew and Hettie are changelings--Peculiars--and neither faeries nor humans want anything to do with them.

One day a mysterious lady in a plum-colored dress comes gliding down Old Crow Alley. Bartholomew watches her through his window. Who is she? What does she want? And when Bartholomew witnesses the lady whisking away, in a whirling ring of feathers, the boy who lives across the alley--Bartholomew forgets the rules and gets himself noticed.

First he's noticed by the lady in plum herself, then by something darkly magical and mysterious, by Jack Box and the Raggedy Man, by the powerful Mr. Lickerish . . . and by Arthur Jelliby, a young man trying to slip through the world unnoticed, too, and who, against all odds, offers Bartholomew friendship and a way to belong.

Part murder mystery, part gothic fantasy, part steampunk adventure, The Peculiar is Stefan Bachmann's riveting, inventive, and unforgettable debut novel.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Now Abby must race against time to take control of her fate without losing sight of who she is, the boy who might just be her soul mate, and the destiny that’s finally in reach

  Interview:

Lauren Miller

 1. Give us 3 interesting facts about you (Be Creative)
I hate cake.  Even as a kid, I refused to eat it.  Cupcakes, too -
gross!  Cookies, on the other hand, I can't live without.  I eat at
least one every day.

I got hit by an air conditioning truck while riding my bike when I was
13.  Miraculously, I walked away with only minor injuries.  The bike
didn't fare so well.

I, like Parallel's protagonist, Abby, went to Yale, but I only applied
to convince my dad that I couldn't get in. Clearly I lost that bet. :)

2. What inspired you to write Parallel?
I was working full time as an entertainment attorney when I wrote
PARALLEL, which started as the pilot script for a television series.
In that script, Abby was a 27 year old woman who was about to marry the wrong guy.  I, meanwhile, was a 27 year old woman who'd  just married the right guy, and I couldn't help but wonder what my life would've looked like had I never met him.  What if our lives had never intersected?  Would I have ended up with someone else? That was the
premise I wanted to explore, so when I decided to turn the script into a novel, I simply started the story earlier, on the eve of Abby's 18th
birthday.
3. Hardest scene to write?
Two scenes were difficult for me.  One is the scene where Dr. Mann, Abby's astronomy teacher, explains the phenonmenon of cosmic entanglement.  I struggled to make it detailed and specific without overwhelming readers with the science-speak.  We'll see if I succeeded!  The other, even more challenging scene for me was a fight scene.  I don't want to give away who was fighting or why, but it is
definitely the scene I rewrote the most times trying to get it just right.
4. Book/s you look forward to read this year?
I'm excited for a bunch! A few on the top of my to-read list are Pivot Point By Kasie West and Just One Day by Gayle Foreman.

5. Favorite ice cream flavor?
Peppermint!!

Waiting On Wednesday #23

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post started by Breaking the Spine, to show books that we are patiently waiting for.
The book we're waiting for this week is:

Vigilante Nights by Erin Richards
Expected publication: July 18th 2013 by Merit Press
Book Description:
A "good boy" will do anything for vengeance when a gang rite kills his twin sister. Will Lucas win, or follow his sister Silver into the darkness?

After a hideous car wreck, Lucas wakes from a coma to find that his world is gutted. Not only is his beloved twin sister, Silver, gone forever, but Lucas is broken in body and spirit. He will never be a college athlete, and is robbed of what he now realizes was the most important bond of his life. Although they weren't identical twins, Lucas and Silver shared a bond so fierce it defied reason, and was nearly supernatural.

After her death, that bond seems to endure when Lucas sees Silver everywhere he turns. Either he's crazy, or Silver is trying to tell him something about the California gang initiation they stumbled into that cost Silver her life. Lucas is bent on revenge, turning on Raymond, Silver's former boyfriend; the one Lucas never wanted her to date. He forms a posse of vigilantes to take out the gangsters responsible for Silver's death, but he risks not only his own life, but the love of the new girl on his block, who knows more about Lucas and Silver than can be accounted for by mere chance.

Why I'm excited for this:
The plot sounds original! I want to read something new and fresh.
I think this book will be it.
