Review- Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey

Title: Dragonswood
Author: Janet Lee Carey
Published: Jan 5th 2012 by Penguin Young Readers Group

Book Description:
Wilde Island is not at peace. The kingdom mourns the dead Pendragon king and awaits the return of his heir; the uneasy pact between dragons, fairies, and humans is strained; and the regent is funding a bloodthirsty witch hunt, hoping to rid the island of half-fey maidens.
Tess, daughter of a blacksmith, has visions of the future, but she still doesn't expect to be accused of witchcraft, forced to flee with her two best friends, or offered shelter by the handsome and enigmatic Garth Huntsman, a warden for Dragonswood. But Garth is the younger prince in disguise and Tess soon learns that her true father was fey, making them the center of an exciting, romantic adventure, and an ancient prophecy that will bring about peace between all three races - dragon, human, and fairy.

My Thoughts:

A prophecy that will change everything.

Dragonswood weaves its spell on me. It’s a colorful fantasy world with Dragons and Fairies. The cover is beautiful and the world building is unique and intriguing. I was compelled from start to finish. I completely devoured this book.

Tess is the main character; she is strong and clever. She is gifted with a sight, which she deeply kept hidden. She was drawn to the mystical forest, but before she yield from her desire to go to the woods. A witch hunter came to her town to hunt witches. She was then accused as being one and was sentenced to death. A dragon saved her life, and she now finds herself running away.  Tess ran away together with her two best friends who were also accused as witches. They were being hunted …with nowhere to go. Then a handsome huntsman found them in a cave; he gave them refuge. But despite the huntsman good intentions, Tess still thinks of him as untrustworthy. Garth, the handsome huntsman leaks mysteriousness. Did the huntsman lure them because of the bounty for their heads? Or he simply wants to help them?
Dragonswood is a story filled with adventure! You have to brace yourselves for the wonderful journey.

Overall, this book is a great read for fantasy lovers. A story filled with talking dragons, alluring faeries and handsome princes. I couldn’t ask for more. This book beguiled me in so many ways. I really do hope this book has sequel.

I give this book 4whales.
