Book Description:
Elyse knows what it means to keep a secret. She's been keeping secrets her whole life. Two, actually. First, that she ages five times slower than the average person, so that while she looks eighteen years old, she's closer to eighty. Second, that her blood has a mysterious power to heal. For Elyse, these things don't make her special. They make life dangerous. After the death of her parents, she's been careful to keep her secret as closely guarded as possible. Now, only one other person in the world knows about her age and ability. Or so she thinks. Elyse is not the only one keeping secrets. There are others like her all over the world, descendants of the very people the Greeks considered gods. She is one of them, and they have been waiting for her for a long time. Among so many of her kind, she should not be very remarkable--except for the prophecy. Some believe she will put an end to traditions, safeguarded by violence, which have oppressed her people for centuries. Others are determined to keep her from doing just that. But for Elyse, the game is just beginning--and she's not entirely willing to play by their rules.

My Thoughts:
I saw this book in Amazon, and instantly fell in love with the cover. So I bought an ebook copy. This book is action-packed; I was on page five, and already on the edge of my seat! It was a breath of fresh air, a great new take on mythology.

The story is written in different POV, in a first person
manner. You get to see each side of the characters. You have a glimpse in their
perspectives and emotions. Even though you get to see their side of the story,
there is still the element of mystery and surprise.
The story revolves around Elyse, the main character in the
book. She has a secret; she aged 5 times slower than normal people, and she can
heal using her blood. Elyse was hidden
in the dark, with no idea on what she is. There were many unanswered questions about
her identity. Someone wants her dead! Why
is she kept in the dark? What makes her so special? You
have to read this book to find out.
The world building is astonishing. There are many books
about mythology (Same old, heard that story before) Not! This book has different
take; it is very unique, not like any other. Here, the characters are
descendants of the Greek Gods; but they are portrayed in a different manner. Instead
of living in Mount Olympus, they are actually real people with great powers.
The side characters are
fantastic! I was literally excited to find out, who is the descendant of whom? What kind of powers do they have? Well Elyse
is not like some other heroines. She is not a kick-ass sort of girl. She is all
goody goody. She is brave and selfless. I admire her love for Anna and Chloe; they
are humans yet her love for them is unwavering. Then William, he was described
in a mouth watering way. He is hot since
he is the descendant of ****! (You have
to read the book to find out) I like how he is protective of Elyse; he is
willing to die for her. His commitment melts my heart.
What I don’t like about the book, is the love angle. It was
fast! I know that they are destined for each other *blah
blah blah* There was no room for their relationship to blossom. Like I said, it
happened so fast. It was like boom! I love you already. I also find Elyse, weak-minded sometimes. She can be easily
influenced. She trusts people easily, given the fact that someone wants her
dead! I hope book two will change that.
Overall, this book is a delightful read! It is action-packed. I recommend this book to mythology lovers. I would definitely
love to see what happens next.
I give this book, 3.5 whales.
This book shocked me with how good it was. With many different twists and turns as well as magical powers and of course romance this book made it hard for me to put it down.
