My Thoughts::
I can't say I hate this book but I can't say I like it too. Maybe there are really some books out there that isn't for you and this book is that one for me. I think this book is just polarizing either you like it or you don't like it.
What I like about it:
- The fact that he has a power is something I like. And it is fire. Although somewhat destructive (I prefer waterbending haha) I think it is still a cool power.
- The protagonist is a male.
- The fact the he has some kind of struggle to control his power is also a plus since it is just normal for someone to not master his power at the start.
What I find not interesting:
- I think the writing style isn't suited for me.
- I don't like the characters around Arson and Emery specially grandmother. She was irritating for me in some way.
- Romance is somewhat a bigger percentage in the story.
So I give this a score in the middle. I give it 3 whales.
I didn't love this one but I did enjoy it. I agree the fire ability is really awesome and I love male POVs. I plan to read the sequel soon I think I'll like it better going by the ending. Great review!

DeleteThat sucks that it wasn't as good as you thought it would be. I've heard other people think it wasn't amazing, but not terrible too. I like the fact that the MC is male and that he has a fire power, so maybe I'll still try this out.

ReplyDeleteI could not put this book down. Literally, I was unable to pry my fingers away from the pages. I was able to connect with Emery on a level that is so unlike any other character I have read about. Estevan is a genius when it comes to plots and I can't wait for the sequel!
