Review- Forbidden by Syrie James and Ryan M. James

Title: Forbidden
Author: Syrie James and Ryan M. James
Published: January 24th 2012 by Harper Teen

Book Description:
Claire Brennan has been attending Emerson Academy for two years now (the longest she and her mom have remained anywhere) and she’s desperate to stay put for the rest of high school. So there’s no way she’s going to tell her mom about the psychic visions she’s been having or the creepy warnings that she’s in danger.

Alec MacKenzie is fed up with his duties to watch and, when necessary, eliminate the descendants of his angelic forefathers. He chose Emerson as the ideal hiding place where he could be normal for once. He hadn’t factored Claire into his plans. . . .

Their love is forbidden, going against everything Alec has been taught to believe. But when the reason behind Claire’s unusual powers is revealed and the threat to her life becomes clear, how far will Alec go to protect her?

My Thoughts:
How far would you go for love?

If you are a fan of Lauren Kate and Becca Fitzpatrick, you will devour this book! Not only the cover is beautiful, the story is amazingly good too! The book was written by Syrie James and Ryan M. James. A mother and son collaboration; good team work!!

The story starts with Claire going to Emerson Academy, she is turning seventeen soon and is suddenly experiencing psychic abilities. I like how she trusts her friends by telling them her visions. She’s very transparent, smart, brave and butt-kicking. Alec is to die for! He’s shy, mysterious, handsome and powerful (Telekinetic). Who would not swoon over a guy who wears combat boots and a guitar case on his back? AWOL from his old job, Alec tries to go to school in attempt to be normal for once. But Claire changes everything. His attraction to her is new to him. But what scares him the most is his protectiveness for her. Claire is in danger. Now Alec must decide….. Freedom or Love?
I like how the authors made Alec and Claire’s world believable. I find myself easily absorbed in the book. I even see myself attending Emerson Academy and hanging out with Claire’s friends. Not only the story is believable, the character building is sensational as well. They are very realistic. I like the quirkiness of Brian, Erica’s awkwardness and Neil’s forwardness…. A lot of “ness”.  In short, I love the characters. The only thing that lacks in this book is some spice. The story is predictable for me, no shocking moments there. But what I enjoyed the most are the action scenes and how it is written in different POVs. You get to know what each character is thinking.

Overall, this book is an enjoyable read. It is action-packed with romance. I recommend this book to paranormal and mythological lovers. I can’t wait for book two.
I give this book 3.5 whales.
