Review- Touch of Power ( Healer 1) by Maria V. Snyder

Title: Touch of Power ( Healer  1)
Author: Maria V. Snyder
Published: December 20th 2011 by Mira

Book Description:

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life...

My Thoughts:

                                              World lies in tatters.
Her touch is the only salvation...

I was Touched! I'm a sucker for Post-Apocalyptic and adventure. This book has it all. The story is fantastic! I was so engrossed in this book, I can hardly put it down. The world Maria created is magical. The story is well written, you feel like your on a journey with Avery passing the 15 realms.
The story starts after the plague taking out millions of people, and the healers are to blame. Now the healers are being hunted and executed. Avery, the lead character is one of them. She is in deep hiding, determined to keep her identity hidden. Then, she made a mistake by healing a child. She was captured but rescued by Kerrick and his men. In exchange for her freedom, Kerrick wants Avery to heal their sick Prince. Now Avery must decide between her life and the realms .
The characters are wonderfully made. I got attached to them easily. Avery is one of my favorite heroines. I like how independent and strong she is. They way she intimidates people by simply being herself, awed me. She owns her decisions and never let others influence her to do things she does not want to do.And lastly, I admire her good deeds, she is selfless. Kerrick is delicious. He is charming with a hint of coldness. He is bossy yet sweet. I like how their friendship blossoms into something more. This book will take you on a great journey. A must read!
Overall, This book is an excellent read. I recommend this book to people who loves Post-Apocalyptic books with adventure and a hint of romance. I'm very much excited for the second book

I give this book 4.5 whales
