Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge.

Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

My Thoughts:

Let me say this right at the start, I think out of all the works of Cassandra Clare so far this is her best work. The writing style has improved drastically and the flow of the story is at its best. The problems I had with the previous Mortal Instruments books was not present in this installment and I am very happy about that. There were no more boring moments wherein I had to force myself into continuing.

First let's talk about the writing style. I think it was still a Cassandra Clare writing but there was definitely an improvement. I think it was also the fact that it was not too girly now. I as a boy can enjoy this new style of her's :D

The flow is great as well. I think I mentioned it before but do you know how Dan Brown's keeps us at the edge of our sits by making multiple scenes happening at same time or happens with close time proximity? It happened this time. Every event was closely connected and important to the over all quality of the story. Specially when Simon was doing his part for the story while Clary is also doing her part on the other side of the coin.

There were lots of good locations that were shown. It was not just concentrated in one city but expands throughout the world. It was beautifully described and you feel you are also travelling with the characters.

Both good side and evil side had an equal oppurtunity here in the book which is great since now we know happens to both sides. Makes the story more vast and exciting.

There were some new and interesting elements shown to the story that were not present in the past books. The Iron Sisters were also present and the Seelie Queen had a cameo. Also the fact there were also some mind games and strategy played in this 5th part.

Relationships were very interesting to follow here too. Every character had its time to shine!! If you know the manga Fairy Tail,, at Tenroujima arc wherein every character had its own development and focus it was done here. So it was definitely a plus.

All in all a very good 5th.  I give it 5 as well.
