it's almost

time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to
Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

My Thoughts:

The first book, Shatter Me was a fun read for me, and now that I have the second book, I can’t help but squeal with joy. I’m just so excited to read what’s going to happen next!

In Unravel me, we see our dear heroine, Juliette, struggling to get her powers under control (who by the way isn’t really doing a good job), and fit in with everyone else in Omega Point. They are like her after all with all those supernatural powers. She thought she has finally found a place where she won’t be treated as a freak— a monster. But she was wrong.

Tahereh Mafi did an awesome job once again. Personally, the second book is twice as awesome as the first one. I just love Mafi’s writing style. It’s something new and refreshing and it quickly draws you into Juliette’s world, as if you were her yourself. You feel every bit of her feelings, as well as the other characters. (*coughs* Warner *coughs*)
Unravel me is filled with so much emotion that I myself am confused as to what I’m supposed to really feel while I read this.
First of all, I didn’t know if I love or hate Juliette’s character here. After the first book, I expected her to grow into that strong girl she’s supposed to become, but no. The exact opposite happened. She curled up in a shell, and buried herself a thousand leagues under the ground. When things go wrong, she just switches to that sad, sad little girl who pities and hates herself for being, well, her. She’s not a prisoner now, and she can be whoever she wanted to be. It’s about time you become strong girl, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Unravel me ended in another cliffhanger once again, and I hope – REALLY HOPE—Juliette becomes stronger in the third book.

Well, I did say Juliette’s character almost made me want to give up on this book, but then again, we get a lot of Warner goodness. So what the hell? I’m never letting go of this book! I’ve always hated him in Shatter me, but now, Oh Warner, I just can’t hate you love. We get to explore more about him, his childhood, and the reasons why he has become that hateful person in book 1. All that hatred I felt for him was quickly washed away and now I’m definitely swooning over him. I’m team Adam but now, I don’t think so. Book 3 might change my mind. (Although I have a strong feeling that I won’t) Let’s just see about that.

And let’s not forget about our heroines love interest, Adam. Well, I actually almost forgot about him. Yes, I loved him because of his strong character and his undying love for Juliette. But there’s just too much drama regarding their relationship and when everything goes wrong, he easily crumbles. What happened to the Adam I’ve known in book 1? Right now, Kenji is already stealing the spotlight from you, soldier. I really enjoyed the parts where Kenji is there. He’s the comic-relief of the book and he just doesn’t fail to make you laugh. So Adam, put yourself together and you better redeem yourself soon.

Over all, Unravel me has drowned me in different kinds of emotions, only wanting me for more. This is easily one of my favorite books of 2013. I can’t, can’t wait for the next book! (And I can’t wait to see you again my lovely Warner)

I give this book 5 Swooning whales.

  1. I DO think Juliette will change drastically in the third book. She struggled a lot in Unravel Me, but I thought it was understandable, all things considered. And Warner, OMG the change! You're right, Adam wasn't even on my radar.
    Lovely review!
