Tour Stop (Interview and International Giveaway) Duplicity by Nikki Jefford

Interview with Author "Nikki Jefford"

Give us 3 interesting facts about you? (Be creative)
 A) When I met my future husband in France, we could barely communicate. He had to carry around a French –English dictionary on all our dates. (Married in France at age 22.) B) I lived in a mud hut in Africa for a month while volunteering in a village at age 19. C) Growing up, we had to move all the time and I went to a new school EVERY year – two a year for a while. It made it very difficult to make close friends. Maybe that’s why imaginary friends became so important.

What inspired you to write about “The Spellbound Series”
This may sound silly, but the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer inspired me to switch from writing historical romance to paranormal YA. I’m constantly dreaming up crazy scenarios and after watching Buffy I felt like I had “permission” to be as outlandish as I desired. I loved reading and writing about magic as a kid so it’s been cool to return to one of my favorite childhood subjects.

Who is your favorite character? Why?
Raj is my favorite character in Entangled. In book two, Adrian snuck up on me. Notice I’m favoring the guys. I’ve always been Boy Crazy! LOL

My favorite character to write is Graylee Perez because her humor makes me laugh out loud and I like to laugh.

If Duplicity has a theme song, what will it be?
Magic Dance from the movie Labyrinth here kept running through my head while working on Duplicity. Also from Labyrinth, As the World Falls Down here. And Lady Gaga, Bad Romance here. Ha, ha. Have to read Duplicity to get the humor behind this one. (Didn’t she just tour in your country this month?!)

    Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?
Chocolate hazelnut fudge from Coconut Bliss here

"Thank you Nikki for your time"

  • Evil Eye Amulet and Bracelet: In Duplicity, Gray wears an evil eye pendant, also known as a nazar, to protect herself from a spell that’s causing havoc over the witches and warlocks in her coven. The evil eye (a Turkish amulet) is used for both luck and protection against envy.
  • Two Headed Quarter: Two Grays are better than none and two heads are better than one, especially when flipping over who gets to choose which movie to watch with a trick coin. Adrian returns in Duplicity and opens a magic shop.

  1. Can I just say that I LOVE Nikki? I mean, her books are amazing, she was inspired by Buffy (only one of the most awesome shows ever), she's boy crazy like me and she mentioned Magic Dance from Labyrinth?! I also have a boyfriend that lives in a different country than me and fortunately, he knew English quite well which made it easier for us to communicate!

Love the post and love the blog! New follower here. :)
