Title: The Mayfair Moon (dark Woods Trilogy #1)
Author: J.A Redmerski
Published: Feb 6th 2012
Book Description:
After a nightmarish encounter with a werewolf, seventeen-year-old Adria Dawson loses her sister, but gains the love of a mysterious young man and his legendary family.

Strange and tragic things begin to happen in the small town of Hallowell, Maine: residents come down with an unexplainable ‘illness’ and some disappear. In the midst of everything, Isaac Mayfair is adamant about keeping Adria safe, even from her sister whom he has warned her to stay away from.

As unspeakable secrets unfold all around Adria, impossible choices become hers to bear. Ultimately, no matter what path she takes, her life and the lives of those she loves will be in peril. As she learns about the werewolf world she also learns why her place in it will change the destinies of many.

My Thoughts:

This book is a must read for “Werewolves fanatic”. Thank you, Jessica for giving us a copy. I was on Chapter 1 and on the edge of my seat already. It was adrenaline-packed! I absolutely enjoyed this book.

The story is about Adria and Alex, two sisters from Athens, Georgia. Both are really close. Until one day, a werewolf encounter had changed Alex in an instant. Alex is not like who she was before. Who are the Vargas Brothers? What had caused Alex’s change of attitude? What is the mystery behind Isaac and his family? You have to read this book to find out.

It’s been awhile since I have read a book about “Werewolves”. I admit, I’ am not a fan of it. I’ am more of a “Vampire” sort of girl. But this book had changed all that. I was impressed by the World-building. It was believable. The world Jessica created had made an imprint on me. It was unforgettable. It reminds me a bit of Twilight, but Edward is a Werewolf.  The pacing was good too; there were no dull moments.  The rivalry between the two powerful families gave spice to the story. The action scenes are vividly described. I feel like I was watching a movie. It was very cinematic. I also like the mystery behind the story. The twists and revelations almost made me faint. It was that good.

As for the characters, they are well developed and realistic. I love how unique each individuals are.  They were described pretty well. I didn’t have a hard time imagining them.  Adria is the heroine here. She is vulnerable yet strong at the same time. I admire her love for Alex. Despite, what happened; she did not want to leave their relationship just like that. Instead, she made a goal of bringing her sister back. Isaac is the main guy. He is mysterious and powerful. He is the type of guy that every girl is dreaming of. His dedication to protect Adria, melts my heart. Zia is my favorite character. I love her perky personality. There is something about her that embraces you in. I hope there is more about her past on the second book. Lastly, Nathan gave spice to the story. I love his funny comebacks for Isaac.  There are more characters in the book. I shall leave them to you to discover.

The love angle was good! It was not rushed. No love-triangle. Hooray! I don’t like picking between two hot guys. Adria and Isaac’s relationship was realistic.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I recommend this to supernatural lovers.  There are no dull moments. The book will appeal to action, mystery and romance lovers. I can’t wait for Book Two.

I give this book 4.5 Whales
